Sandbars and Giants: Tracking the Night Bite on the Navarre Shoreline
Navarre Beach - Escambia, FL
Date: February 18, 2026
Location: Navarre Beach, FL
Water Temperature: 64°F
Current Conditions: Calm surf with 1–4 ft waves. High tide is peaking at 7:25 PM, creating optimal depth for predators to move into the inner sandbar troughs.
The Winter Shoreline Bite The land-based action on Navarre Beach has been remarkably consistent this February. While the air temperatures have been crisp, the shark activity remains high for those targeting the deeper beach cuts. We are seeing a strong presence of Sandbar Sharks (averaging 5–6 feet) and aggressive Blacktips cruising the surf line.
Target Species: Sandbar, Blacktip, and resident Bull Sharks.
Activity Level: High during the late afternoon and early evening as the incoming tide pushes baitfish toward the shore.
Bonus Action: Large Bull Redfish and Black Drum are frequently being hooked on shark rigs, providing plenty of rod-bending action between shark runs.
Notable Recent Catches There has been significant buzz along the Florida Panhandle this month following a few rare Great White Shark sightings and by-catches in the region. While these are not our standard targets, it underscores the incredible diversity of the Gulf during the winter migration. Currently, our focus remains on the plentiful Sandbar sharks that are putting up impressive fights on heavy tackle.
Pro-Tip: Night Fishing Strategies With sunset occurring around 5:36 PM, the transition into darkness has been the most productive window. We are finding success using fresh-cut Bonito and Mackerel to draw in predators from the nearby sandbars. For anyone booking a Navarre FL shark fishing charter this week, the 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM start times are perfectly timed to hit the night bite.
Conservation & Safety Reminder As a reminder for all land-based shark fishing in Navarre, FWC regulations require that prohibited species (like Sandbars and Great Whites) must remain in the water with their gills submerged. We practice quick, safe releases to ensure these animals stay healthy.
